About PLANET AI
Who we are and how good our technology is.
Who is PLANET AI?
A software company with around 50 people in Rostock, Germany. Our roots in AI research go back to 1992, the company was founded in 2015 and has been part of the Bechtle Group since 2023. We build AI for document-based work: IDA for reading documents and JAIDE, the AI colleagues.
How good is the technology?
In 2026 we won first place at DocVQA, the international benchmark for document understanding at ICDAR, ahead of models from Google, OpenAI, Anthropic and Alibaba. We won 7 of 8 categories and reached 60 % accuracy, compared with 37.5 % for the best frontier model alone.
IDA and JAIDE
What our products do and how they fit into your systems.
What is the difference between IDA and JAIDE?
IDA reads documents: it captures, sorts and extracts the data a process needs. JAIDE works with the content: the AI colleagues review files, check applications and prepare decisions. JAIDE builds on IDA.
What is the difference between an AI colleague and a chatbot?
A chatbot answers a question and needs to be steered. An AI colleague understands the task, works through it on its own and delivers a result, not just information.
Which AI colleagues are there?
JAIDE One for document work in any field, JAIDE Akte for reviewing case files, JAIDE Antrag for checking applications, JAIDE Service for service requests and JAIDE Ausschreibung for tenders. JAIDE Code is planned.
My process is not on the list. What now?
Usually it is enough to adapt JAIDE instead of developing a new application. Tell us about your process and we will tell you how quickly it can be done.
What can IDA read?
Machine print with an accuracy of more than 99 %, handwriting with more than 95 %, historical scripts such as Kurrent, tables and ticked boxes. From PDFs and image formats such as PNG and JPG, with up to 100,000 documents a day.
How do we teach IDA new document types?
With a few examples, right in the browser and without programming. IDA learns from examples, not from fixed rules.
Do we have to replace our existing systems?
No. IDA connects via interfaces and hands over the results to your ECM, DMS, ERP or specialist application, as JSON and, if needed, as a searchable PDF.
Security and operation
Where your data is, which law applies and who decides.
Where do IDA and JAIDE run?
In your own data centre, in a sovereign cloud with German partners or hybrid. Your data does not leave the house.
Which law applies to our data?
European law. As a German company we are not subject to the US CLOUD Act, so US authorities cannot demand access to your data. GDPR is built in from the start.
Which certifications do you have?
Our management systems are certified to ISO 27001 (information security) and ISO 9001 (quality). Development and operation take place in Germany.
Who makes the decision?
A person. The system delivers the basis for a decision, not the decision itself. Every statement comes with its source, down to document and passage.
Are we tied to one AI model?
No. When prices, requirements or the market change, you switch the AI model without rebuilding your solution.
